The idea for Vinh Hung Restaurant was born back in 1996 when a local business man opened the first tourist hotel - The famous Vinh Hung 1 Hotel, in a neighbouring town house and saw the need for an authentic restaurant where his guests could comfortably sample the famous Hoi An cuisine.

 

Named after his mother in law (Vinh) and father's (Hung) family names, the restaurant loyally kept all it's customers tastebuds singing with authentic family recipes and classic Hoi An dishes in a beautiful old trading house overlooking the Cantonese Assembly Hall by the Japanese Covered Bridge

 

Soon after, Mr Hung's daughter married into another local family. Her new mother in law the first woman instrumental in opening Hoi An up to tourism and her father in law the vice chairman of Hoi An. The 2 families combined make up one of the most respected partnerships in tourism in Hoi An.
